“Joe grew up on a beef cattle farm in Crossville, Tennessee. He attended undergrad at Tennessee Tech,
graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in health science biology in 2013. While at Tech he met
two of his best friends who were also pursing careers in dentistry. They were all accepted into multiple
schools together and all chose to attend The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
While at UK, he and his two friends added a few more buddies to the “Tennessee boys” crew. They all
had several things in common, one of those was a desire for entrepreneurship. While still in school they
studied all things related to running a successful business. Their biggest inspiration came from listening
to dental podcasts. They attended the first ever Voices of Dentistry Conference during their 3 rd year of
school and had the opportunity to meet their biggest influencers in person. They were inspired to start
their own podcast to document the journey from dental school to residency to associateship to now
practice ownership. The Life and Dentistry Podcast was started and Joe helped launch their first
conference during their 4 th year of school that attracted over 200 attendees.
After graduating he continued to be a co-host on the podcast growing their audience nationally and
speaking and recording at several events in the years following. The podcast continues to evolve and
engages listeners in all phases of dentistry.
Upon graduating in 2017 he was an associate dentist at Maple Leaf Dentistry under his mentor Jerald
Bryant in Cookeville, TN. In the Fall of 2019, he began his plans for a start up practice in Lenoir City, TN.
He opened Lakeside Dental in January of 2020. After a bumpy start during the beginning of COVID-19
shut down, his practice has since flourished. Joe now lives in Lenoir City with his wife, Kayla, and four
year old son, Brody.”
